A smart city in an old production hall
Philips City Touch provides state of the art solutions for city street lighting. It levels static lighting into a dynamic system to support public areas. To develop these software, you need smart people. The processes and way of working needs to be supported by the working environment. Enclosed rooms in an old production hall is not what you expect as a software engineer.
The management of City Touch was facing problems in attracting new software developers. The offices were not inspiring and too old fashioned. When a part of a production hall was available, new opportunities were defined. Our team developed a vision to transform the production hall into a lab space and an attractive working. The discussions with the construction engineers were not always easy, but we managed to reach our goals. The needs of the teams to support agile working was leading in our process.
The new loft office on two connected levels in the hall will support the teams. Different types of work setting, lab space, an auditorium, collaboration area and space for stand up meetings are integrated. The loft office has an industrial look & feel but is fully connected to the needs and culture of the teams.
