The new “EFTA house”
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is the intergovernmental organisation of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. It was set up in 1960 by its then seven Member States for the promotion of free trade and economic integration between its members.
To centralize the EFTA staff in Brussels, located in 3 different buildings, a project to move the teams to a new building at the Kunstlaan, close to the European district, was defined. The new “EFTA House” had to include the working environment for the 3 organisations and needed to support all EFTA activities in Brussels, including an auditorium and meeting center for presentations on EEA and trade related matters from groups of government officials, politicians, organisations and students visiting Brussels.
From the early beginning of the project our team supported EFTA. We negotiated with the landlord and ensured the specific needs and requirements were included in the lease. The design of the 7 floors building reflects the values and culture of the organisation on a human scale. A diversity of workstations supports all activities of the team members and provides an inspiring and warm working environment.
