Supporting a newspaper’s new way of working with design
Mediahuis is one of Belgium’s leading media companies. One of their regional newspapers is “Het Belang van Limburg”. This landmark publication and its editors had been working from the old headquarters in Hasselt since the 1970’s. But these offices no longer matched the needs of a digital editorial team and their supporting coworkers. Their digital transformation required a radical rethinking of how a news medium uses digital technology, people and places.
PROCOS Group was advising the Mediahuis board during their process of digital transformation. First, we determined the needs of the company and the team in a program of requirements to brief the real estate developer. Based upon our insights and advice the building on the “Herckenrode” site was constructed with a dedicated office including a television studio for Mediahuis’ local channel TV Limburg.
The editorial teams of “Het Belang van Limburg” are working in a new environment with a smart vision and workplace concept that suit their needs. We made sure the shift went smoothly by integrating a group of ambassadors in the concept development team. This way, we incorporated the team’s views and needs into the plan and created a solid internal support base. We prepared the company’s move with workshops and info sessions explaining the ins and outs of the new editorial office and ways of working.
PROCOS Group created the vision and developed the concept. We created the interior design, macro and micro layout. Additionally, our team drew up the specifications and bills of quantity, managed the project and performed the procurement process. Finally, we managed the change and communication process.
